FORUM
Special Issue

Did you know that CAPDT is celebrating 30 years? To commemorate this anniversary, we’ve put together a special issue of the Forum. Geared towards dog guardians and trainers, this issue is jam-packed full of resources, along with stories about our history.

Dog Training

Dog training uses behaviour analysis to help dogs learn and thrive through positive guidance. By working with both dogs and their guardians, training can:

  • Help puppies and dogs become socialized and build important skills, tasks, and responses.
  • Prevent behaviour that could harm their health, welfare, or safety.

Training and behaviour consulting also involve teaching dog guardians about:

  • Normal dog behaviour and communication
  • Dog body language and care
  • Humane ways to manage and modify behaviour

Together, we help dogs and their people live better, happier lives.

Behaviour Consulting

Behaviour consulting is a specialized form of dog training focused on changing behaviours that impact a dog’s safety, wellbeing, and ability to live happily in homes and public spaces. This includes serious issues like aggression, separation anxiety, and more.

At CAPDT, we welcome trainers and behaviour consultants at all stages — from seasoned professionals to those just starting out. Our members share a passion for helping dogs, a commitment to learning, and dedication to our strong Code of Ethics.

No matter what your occupation, if you love dogs, and want to learn more about training, you’ve come the right place!
